Event recorders are small tape recording devices with EKG leads placed on specific areas of the chest to record the heart’s electrical activity. These devices are worn for 21 to 30 days to detect irregular heart rhythms which may be associated with dizziness, palpitations or fainting spells. The patients are monitored at all times and may press a button either on the device or a handheld remote to record the heart’s electrical activity during symptoms.
